2 Years!

topic posted Thu, September 22, 2005 - 11:15 PM by  Budgie
So today was my two year anniversary of having quit smoking! Yay! I'm so proud of myself..... I'm not really here to gloat, though... I just wanted to tell you all that it DOES GET BETTER..... Cigarettes have almost totally lost their appeal to me with time... Every once in a very very very great while I feel like smoking for just about a split second and then I come to my senses and move on without it.... And then I don't even think about it..... For those of you that have recently quit or are thinking of quitting- hang in there- it's totally worth it!!!! :)

Sometimes, i wish that i could smoke.
I wish that it didn't smell so bad that when i walked into a room, no one would notice if i just had one.
I wish that if i chose to smoke, it wouldn't be a life or death situation.
Ah, the relief of a smoke, after dinner, with a drink, during a stressful life moment.
But truly, it's not worth it.
I'm prob'ly at about 2 months. I don't even know what day i quit, but it was the second big quit for me.
I smoked for 12 years, quit for six years, started smoking again last October and knew that if i surpassed a year (which i did), it would be a problem.
      So i finally quit again.
And i'm so glad not to deal with the shame, the smell, the cost of cigarettes, their leash around me. But dammit, if they weren't so frickin' bad for me, i could totally go for a smoke right now!
      Oh well, they are.
      And that's why i'm happy i quit.
      For ME.
